Hey, I have had this Small cactus for years and kept it in a tiny pot. The other day I id'd it as San Pedro and was wondering if age and size of a cactus affects the amount of active chemicals within?

From what I've read, if you don't have a consistent source than the potency of SP is complete luck of the draw.

Ya, it's mostly a crap-shoot from what I've heard, though I hear if you stress the plant for awhile it will produce more mescaline, so if you're looking for potency put it in the dark w/ no water for awhile, maybe?

From what I read of the subject.. They are the best when fully mature.. About 6 feet or taller... The top 4 feet contain the highest concentration of mescaline.. I'd love to get me one of these cactus' for my yard.. I think it take some time to reach maturity.. Not sure. Just from all the material I've read. Check Erowid.

They grow really quickly (can do 1ft/year+). If you are really looking into one for your yard PM me, I know a good source. I would probably wait until spring to order, though. They go dormant over winter.
