Take it for what its worth to you:

From the book 'LSD, Spirituality and the Creative Process' (p.143):

" "E.R.
A Hindu religious monk, E.R meditated for four days before ingesting the LSD, sleeping only a little bit. A psychic picture unrolled before his mind, symbolically providing a clear procedure as to how the LSD experience can be embarked upon as a religious journey, from a religious point of view. The process presented itself in the form of a revelation, which worked exceedingly well as he put it into operation, and produced the following evaluation of his experience. It is interesting that he did not really describe his experience, but rather presented an intellectual model.

"The human body is like a flowering plant. The stalk of the plant is the spine. The brain, which resides at the top of the stalk is the bud of the flower which is capable of blooming. The folds of the brain tissue are not unlike the folds of a rose bud. The pineal glands are like the pistal and stamin of a flower. But the human plant could be more likened to the century plant which blossoms only once in its lifetime. The reasons why our brain does not blossom as it should is that we do not live natural lives. The human race has imposed all sorts of abnormal impositions on itself, both physical and mental. The proper growth and function of the brain is not allowed to take place. Prior to this revelation I had assumed that oriental religious terminology such as 'the thousand petaled Lotus residing in the center of the head' was merely poetic symbology for psychological effects. This new concept translates the idea into organic chemistry and gives us tangible substance with which to deal. The flights of mind, the spiritual and psychic rebirth of the mystic can be had permanently if the flower of the brain can be made blossom.
This flowering or activation of the glands of the brain is brought about by what might be called life force, for want of a better term. The Hindus use the term Prana. This life force is being produced and collected in the body at all times and we cannot exist without it. The key to this life-force are the sexual organs which lie at the base of the spine and might be likened to the roots of the stalk of the plant, where our spiritual nourishment has its origin. The purpose is to draw this life force up to the glands of the brain rather than let it be expended through emissions of the sexual organs. This is not an easy thing to do" "

================

I searched through that page but did not find the word "correct"

I did find the following part which relates to wisdom:
Quote:

1. Right view is the true understanding of the four noble truths.

2. Right aspiration is the true desire to free oneself from attachment, ignorance, and hatefulness.

These two are referred to as prajña, or wisdom.

and if you speak with a practicing bhikkhu (as opposed to one that just studies scripture and does not meditate)
you will hear the word "right" transliterated to "suitable" much more often than "correct".

It has everything to do with change which is the only constant in life, and the idea that there is no right, per se, though one can always find a most fitting way to each situation.
One that will fit in the middle so to speak of alternatives.
this is also known as the middle way.

The buddha did not go for conclusions. His discriminating intelligence found a middle way of approaching things on an ongoing basis.

Some students, however, usually need something more firm, and for them a more dumbed down and strict rule would have to be provided. for them a more dualistic right and wrong approach gets them started. In that way people are not exactly equal.

If I may, let's set the bar in the middle.
(that is where the 3rd eye should be)

Yes, I'm aware of the often confused osmosis between physical and psychic processes in the discussions of Kundalini-Shakti. I understand the physical organs and their processes to be 'vehicles' for these more subtle astral organs and their subtle-body processes - not identical with them. Thanks for the quote. I have this book in my own library.

With all due respect, redgreenvines, a post ago you were complaining about MY use of semantics. You even implied the semantic game was useless... and now YOU are playing the game yourself.

But since you brought it up...

CORRECT and INCORRECT are SYNONYMOUS with RIGHT and WRONG... so be picky if you want... but I just gave you a shitload's worth of examples where The Buddha explains what is and is not RIGHT... or if you prefer, what is and is not CORRECT.

And he did this while talking about WISDOM.

You admitted this ALL in your last post... and still somehow missed the forest for the trees.

I should remind you the "Third Eye" is also commonly known as, "The Eye of Wisdom".

take a spoon and start to dig out your forehead. you probably won't find any brain in the way of your 'third eye' so it will probs be easy to find.

The pineal gland, located at the center of the brain, is the third eye. That's not just a mystical association; the gland's original function in our primitive ancestors was, in fact, as an eye with no lid resting at the top of the skull, used to determine the time of day. That's why it controls melatonin, a neurotransmitter related to circadian rhythms. It was mostly reptiles that possessed this third eye, and there are some that still do.

Our own pineal gland has clearly taken up a new function, but it still has primitive retinal tissue, I believe. There is debate as to whether it is technically a part of the brain, as it is unique - it is a single structure, unlike any other brain structure (they usually have a symmetrical counterpart).

If you don't have anything positive and "on topic" to add to the question, you really should just find other threads to post.

Would anyone mind posting some basic meditation guides for begginers? I would really love to hear more. Thanks for opening up such an interesting topic.

The search feature is your friend.

Also, this is not the forum where the, "If you don't have anything nice to say... don't say anything at all." rule applies.

Expect opposing opinions in here, and don't feel bad if your idea is not universally accepted... or if answers don't really seem like answers.

Even people who literally believe in a Third Eye... disagree on the meaning of the term.

No, he's right. I've been there, where your eyes are closed yet you still see. I didn't know how i was doing it, or what was going on ( because i was new to tripping ) but it happened.

It wasn't hard to open. I didn't even have to close my real eyes. Just concentrate on that middle upper part of your head and try and "open it" if you will.

least thats how i did it.
