Baeos???...maybe.......

well.......while i was out working today i came across what looks to me like ps. baeosistis except that they don't bruise blue/green. I found them near some horse stables with maple woodchips, straw and horse manure as substrate. there were other woodlover mushies around (Mycenas, naematomas and psathrellas) but these stood out from the rest. the pins caught my eye first cuz they look like cyan pins. the spore print is dark purple/brown, the stem white/off white. the cap was brownish(sort of like cyans), but what i thought the most distinguishing factor: the margin is serrated like a bottle cap and the gills are grayish purple. these pics suck cuz i didn't have a camera at the time and it's been about 6 hours since i picked em so they've started to dry a tan color(kind of like cyans.) if not baeos, i would like to know what they might be.

a shot of the gills.............

on this one i used the flash to show the color a little better...

Could be a Psathyrella.
Or maybe an inactive or weakly active Psilocybe. The pleated cap margin also reminds me of P. weilii, P. caerulescens and P. zapotecorum.

The light in those photos is very bad... You should try and take photos in bright light or day light next time.
Psathyrella sounds plausible.

Yeah, that one little pin with the partial veil intact. It actually reminded me of a Cortinarius, however the mature specimens do not look like it, and the spore colour and substrate are off.

i'll be back to the spot next week (i was doing work on someone's private property, that's why i didn't get habitat pics). there was quite a few more, and these shrooms were deffinately different than the many "look alikes" growing right next to it. matter of fact i thought a cluster right next to these was maybe the same, but all the other mushrooms had even margins, more fragile stalks and obvious appearance of not being psycoactive. these, when i first saw them, i thought they might be cyans, but then i saw the mature specimens and they all had pleated margins with an off white stalk with little small fibers, especially towards the base of the stalk. i know the pics suck, but the pic of baeos in the national audobon society handbook match the gills and discription of what i've got.....except for the bluing. size, color, spore print etc. I willl get some habitat shots and post them up. i'm not getting my hopes up, but i would like to know what they are because i haven't seen these before.

Well the bluing, size and spore color are absolutely not characteristics to overlook when trying to ID a mushroom. You should not try to make something what it is not, and rather start from scratch and try to find out what it really is.

NOt Baeos. Not Psilocybe genus.
Sorry.
Keep looking though. If you find Psatharella and Naematoloma, you are in the right market for Cyan, Stunzii, Baeo, Cyranofib etc....
