black light test

Hi, this is my first time on this forum, however I have been a long time viewer. About a week ago I started a new growth with the PF-tek (first timer) and I've been wanting to really see if my cubes had started to grow. At the moment all i can see in the jars is a dark wet spot where i inoculated substrate.
So i was wondering, since mycelium is of a white nature and is reflective to black light, would it be possible to see the first signs of growth? I tried with a few jars, using a black lig and there was a noticeable difference between the substrate and the syringe spot - a sort of light green hue in the form of a round spot.
Anyone? Thanks

one week no mycelium???
what temp are they at? when i kept mine in room temperature it took forever to colonize, once i put them in a small controlled area at 82-84 degrees and they colonize much faster.
just be patient, its oubvious when its there. whats knowing an extra day when you have probably 20 more to go! not to mention fruiting...another 15-20 days. lol
PATIENCE!

Where did you get your spore syringe from? If it was ET there is going to be black crap in the jar after you innoc.

Clumps of spores don't mean anything except that there are clumps of spores

Exposing your growing mycelium to UV radiation might actually slow or stop growth, even if it's UVA ("soft" UV, like you get from a blacklight).
Not completely sure about that, but I think I might have to experiment with that to see if it has any effect.

Patience, my friend
JW- How did you inoculate the jars? Through the center of the cake or through 2-4 holes along the inside lip of the lid?

interesting idea about the myc though, If a black light could illuminate them they might look different after each flush, let us know your findings.

the substrate isnt dry. the spot seems to be getting bigger and bigger and bigger every day so it is growth. i just checked my temp and its very low like 70 or sumthing - so ill go buy a fully submergeable heater for the tot box.
i inoculated it through 2 holes on the sides, so you can clearly see it on the side of the jar. i got my spores from ralph's.

Blacklights don't put out any light in the germicidal range. Even if they did UV does not penetrate glass, except for quartz glass.
