g2g slowdown?

ok, so I originally inocculated some BRF 1/2 pints with spores. growth was extremely rhizo and finished colonizing in about 8 days after germination (fastest I've ever seen)
I then did a "cake to grain" transfer to rye in a few quart jars.
These finished pretty quickly but not as rhizo as the BRF jars
I then did another g2g to a few more quarts from these jars. It's now been a week and a half and the growth is pretty slow and not really rhizo at all.
From what I've read one should not go past 3rd gen for g2g transfers. Is this slowdown typically why it is not advisable to repeat g2g too much? Starting to get a few wet spots and I'm wondering if this might be bacteria slowing them down. No molds etc. I kept a few rye jars as controls (no transfer) and they have not developed wet spots. ideas?

i think your thinkin of cloning dont clone that much or the dna will start breaking down or something along the line of that but g2g is spose to be faster skipping the spores germination stage nd gowing right the the myc growth maybe you added to much water or theyre to dry post pictures

Actually, the genetic code begins to become less accurate after the 3rd generation. This could mean several things can happen. aborts, mutatnts, low potencey, etc. Not necessarily limited to one trait being lost, such as slow colonizing, etc.
Stamets has some info on this.. There are also posts about g2g degeneration. Not sure if thats the right word. BTW, prints are still viable after 3rd generation grain to grain transfers flush out.

I've spawned from corncob to corncob to about 6-7 generations with no problems.

Has anyone ever had experience with genetic degeneration from g2g? I've gone 5 generations with wbs an noticed nothing 'visual'.
