i used to like them.. when they made real goa and psy-trance.. christ, about 5-10 years ago, i guess...
saw them at vegoose a couple weeks ago... possibly the worst set of the weekend and one of the worst "trance" acts i've ever seen...
what's with the shitty bald dude screaming? and the really shitty hard-rock licks they try and pull off now?
they really suck now, imo.

yah, i guess, IM just isn't good music to me. It's cookie cutter, boring, and most of it feels like it got put together with the program acid. Id rather sit through marathon sessions of tiesto, sasha, digweed, or oakenfold (whom also make me want to puncture my eardrums) then listen to IM.

razmablues said: why is it that every time a band starts getting big it starts to suck? you'd think it should be the opposite... the music world works in strange strange ways
kind of the same way movies work..sequels ALWAYS walk in the shadow of the original. it's science. go figure
I think it has more to do with the nature of change. You get the core fans who were around for the original stuff which obviously they liked since they are fans. Then as time goes by either the band fades away and nobody really cares much or they get a little more popular. Concurrent to this path of increased popularity is the natural progression of any real musicians.
In other words, I think most band's popularity coincides with the normal evolution of their sound. They make the decision to move on and change things up instead of re-hashing their old stuff again. This almost invariably alienates the original core fans while new-comers may or may not like it. If the new fans like it, thus increasing the bands popularity, the original fans think this automatically means that "their" band has "sold out". When really they're just angry that their pet band has out-grown them.
That's just my opinion on that phenomenon. Obviously some bands do just sell out or start to suck or whatever. I think however, that the above process is an underlying factor in most cases.

I've been a big fan of IM for years, I've seen them multiple times (driven like 14 hours to see them, in fact), and I think their new album kicks just as much ass as all the rest.
The thing with Infected Mushroom now is...they're not really psytrance anymore. The first time I saw IM, it was a trance show. This more recent time (this last summer) it was a rock show. I could see how Vicious Delicious would disappoint if you were looking for goa trance, but that's not what they are anymore. I think unbeliever hit the nail on the head. I mean, last time I saw Infected they had a drummer (who invariably kicked ass, I might mention)!
Plus, Tommy, the guitarist they tour w/ in America is cool shit! Got a chance to chat w/ him a few times at a couple of shows.

Listening to it right now, it's a little dark for my taste, but I like it!

Thank lord... I though I was the only one here without love for IM.
I haven't listened to them in years, thought they were horrible back when, and then people say: ya I wish they were like they used to be...

Not from massive, I don't think, but something in Tel Aviv. Thought y'all might like to have this one.

I caught them in a small club in Miami, and it was a sweet show, they got the crowd going crazy and the effects they had were crazyy, or maybe it was just the drugs, lol.
