i don't think you can. You have to make a filter bag and have chopped pasturised straw and a few other supplements.

There was a post some time ago(2 months or so) from a guy who cased oysters with 50/50 casing. They fruited.

But generally they don?t need a casing.

i dunno, i think they can /should be able to be cased quite well. maybe not optimal, but i buried some osyter substrate outside, and now i have a 2'x2' patch of kick ass oysters growing up from the ground. if it worked outside, i dont see the difference in trays indoors..imho

I'm curious....why would you case if you didn't have to?

You don't even need wheat straw....you can even just fill a small bag (even a plastic grocery store bag) with grain and then cut some slits in it when it's fully colonized.
