i have a jar that has the slightest bit of yellowing around where the edge of the MYC growth is.. its about the color of sulfur.. is this a contam or is from the moisture?

Based on my very limited experience (or lack there of) I would let it go for another few days and see if it darkens, spreads or smells funny... Not much you can do if you're not sure I guess, pics could help identify it.

I think the purpose of the dry layer is to protect the shit underneath so if you forgot that "shield" per se, then that's where one could, in theory, expect the contam to start at... *shrug*

Look at pics of mycellium vs. Cobweb mold. What you are seeing may be cobweb mold. One is brilliant white, one is light gray. Also, familiarize yourself with mycellium metabolites. It may be what you are seeing. If it is, it's completely fine and healthy.. Someone long ago gave it the nic of myc. piss. Anyway. Hope this helps.

search metabolites. Check for some pictures. Generally if its yellow but not fuzzy, its metabolites, however better safe than sorry, take some pictures and post them, or if you can't, keep it on hold till you can be sure or toss it.

When I grew some PF style jars, all of them had white, puffy mycelium at the top of the jars. In fact, it almost looked like cotton balls. They all fruited fine.

Uhm wait a sec... I think you are wanting to do 10:1 H202 and water, NOT BLEACH AND WATER, if you fear the cobweb, h202 will not harm the mycelium (although i generally get mutants from excessive h202 praying) Bleach i imagine will harm the mycelium.

i just want to say that mycelium isn't always brilliant white and that cobweb mold isn't always light grey the substrate color often has alot to do with what color growths will be
