so i wanted to do 8 qrts of grain for a monotub. i measured out approx 8 cps of rye (3 lbs) when i started filling my jars just know found out that was only enough for 6 qrts 2/3 full.
so how long can i wait to sterilize those 6 qrts because i want to soak another 3-4 cps of rye and boil it so that i get my 8 qrts.
thanks for the help guys

if your sterilization procedure is good, you can wait, keep the jars sealed.

so you dont think it would be safe to leave the hydrated grains ina strainer until the ohter ones are done soaking?
that way i know they are dry by the time i load them.

that would work, i would just worry about loosing too much moisture.. anyone else wanna field this one? im not 100% sure what the answer should be.. I personally would dry them and store them in a bag so they did not loose all that moisture you just put in..

we want the moisture on the inside of the grains right? and for them to be completly dry on the out side. thats what ive gathered. i dont know if you can loose the moisture from the inside from just letting them sit exposed.

Sterilize those, and after the rest soak, sterilize the second batch. Your hydrated grains will be nasty by tomorrow. RR
