inhumanity
    #7605819 - 11/07/07 07:33 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

is being inhumane even possible? because humaneness encompasses all human activities, whenever another act is committed it must automatically fall in the humane category..

i was just reading a book and found this then it got me thinking

"west admits that given the numerous and horrific examples of people's inhumanity to one another, it is hard to take hope seriously"

reading that gave me the image of the countless number of wars/murders/rapes/other socially deviant behaviors that have happened, are happening right this second, and will continue to happen until the end of man kind...

so i ask you what exactly inhumanity is? is it a false security? or can there be such a thing?

"Humane" and "human" do not mean the same thing.

Quote:

Humane
Characterized by kindness, mercy, or compassion.

So, yes, it is entirely possible to be human and to act in ways that are inhumane.

Current human nature is whatever behaviour is intrinsically typical of humans at the time. Human nature as it is is corrupt. Although humans are corrupt, we still have a higher moral standard which we judge by. But since that standard is not typical of humanity at this time (or at least most of them), then human nature is judged imperfect.
