quick bag question

I have this 5lb filterpatch bag that is pretty much all colinized except for the bottom. I mixed at 30% (well it was a guess since no matter how hard I tried I couldnt find any pics of what a 30% bag looks like).
What should I do? Is it OK to just fruit like that and then when it comes time to dunk for the 2nd flush just dump the uncolinized substrate out? The substrate/myc is pulling away from the bag now which I believe I read was another sign that it is almot ready...
I was thinking about waiting till this weekend and starting fruiting then just to give it more time. I started the bag 10/17 with a spore syringe so it has been colinizing for about 20 days now...
Thoughts?

If you would have shifted (or shaken) your bags you could've cut your colonization time in half as well as distributed the mycelium making it easier for them to connect with out staling(this action is what causes the time cut in half phenomenon). I once heard RR say that the mycelium does not like to reach to make connections. Make it easier on them by shifting at least once.

I did at 30% as my original post states. Or are you refering to something entirely different? I just basically mixed the bag from the outside with my fingers.
Who else thinks I should fruit this joker? I wish I had a decent camera to show you guys how shes looking

I just got a 6500k light for the children so I guess Im about ready to go for it.
I wonder if I should open the bag and dunk it before moving to the terrarium

crumble and case huh? I was really thinking abou going this route, but since this is my first time and I thought it would be safest to fruit in bag....

Sorry didn't get what you were talking about with"mixing". Fruit it. But pull it out of the bag for fruits sake. You will get a better yield if you can make the surface area bigger and less deep. Crumble in the bag, open and find a nice long container(aluminum pans are cheap and easy to find) I use whole storage bins. Takes a bit of substrate to do this though. Do you have an idea for you terrarium. I m telling you have always been let down by the pin set and yield from fruiting in a bag.

Ask me about mono tubs. Forget the casing. For newbies this is a harder path than necessary, at least until you become very familiar with the growing patterns of mycelium. In a mono tub setup as mine moisture, humidity, and Fae are plentiful. No better results with casing.

Hmm but if I crumble won't that set back the mycelium growth and also make is more suseptible to contams? I plan on making up some jars this weekend and would like to go the monotub route with them, just not sure if I want to risk fucking up what I have going here. It's a mushbox bag and after talking to monstermitch he seemed pretty adamant about letting it fruit in bag... bleh I dunno everyone seems to have a opinion on how it should be done...
What about just taking the brick out of the bag the way it is and placing it in a fruiting chamber? I dunno I'm not looking for a crazy amount my first time I just want to be successful then build from there...

I also have another 5lb bag but it is only maybe 5% colinized, so maybe I could use that one for a monotub once its ready.
I know I keep saying it but I just want to do everything I can do to ensure success, I know I can build off that. Bleh. Tell me about the monotubs!

Always pioneer your own paths. When you take that leap you find things out. You can take the brick out and fruit it like a pf cake. If you must have results your first time w/ out risk. But w/ your second bag burn it in to your brain that you won't mess up. Go for the mono tub. When the bag is completely colonized and you crumble it, it will be protected by the large amount of mycelium. And will grow back together quicker than you would think. Remember depth is pertinent but surface area is where it is at.

Thank you so much for your advice. Once I have successfully completed my first I intend on experimenting. I just need to complete the process first so I have a first hand feel for everything. Any more tips/info is greatly appreciated.
