The cutest thing I've ever seen...

I was just checking on my newly pinning trays and I noticed something I have never seen before in all of my comparatively limited experience...
On my casing layer (jiffy mix) I have two fully developed fruits that are both less than 1/16th of an inch tall, caps and all. The stalks are both roughly the thickness of a human hair. It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen...
Any educated guesses/theories on such a thing? All of the other pins that have forms are normally sized.

I've edited the original post with an image of the micro-mini's. It's a really interesting phenomenon... Hopefully the tape-measure gives you some indication of their relative size.

Psilocybe Cubensis - B+ to be precise.
A single sector isolate taken from a stored master culture slant to illustrate the differences between homemade compost and coco-coir (amended with used coffee grounds and vermiculite) as substrates.
Total weight of those fruits looks to be approximately 0.0001g wet, each. How do you like *my "MONSTERS", lol...

I can only barely theorize how it happened but I'm sure my very high FAE with the constant 90-100% humidity blowing against the substrates themselves had something to do with it.
The greenhouse looks something like this...

...lol, I'm kind of proud of the little dudes, they had to be almost microscopic hypheal knots, assuming they even formed that way.

I would suspect they are an invader species that came in the jiffy mix and survived pasteurization. There's lots of small mushrooms, but I've never seen cubes that small. See if there's enough there to get a sporeprint, and examine the gills with a magnifying glass to see if they match the other mushrooms you have. RR

I'd need a better microscope and some similarly sized equipment to be able to work on a fruit that small and still take a relatively viable biopsy. But if I could, I would named them...Pigmy B+ perfectly sized for easter egg terrariums. lol!

I'm going to have to, I'm fascinated by them at this point. Pasteurization was fairly sound using your very own range-top method and it was also amended with a garden gypsum and enough pickling lime to bring the pH to 7.2. Not ruling out a piggy-backer but figured I'd at least put it out there...

Oh, wow, I didn't think you'd be able to get a good shot of them. Fuckin' a man, those things are little. I'll definitely be watching this thread to see if you find out any more about them.
I think mini-cubes would just be too cool if you managed to isolate them, if a little impractical, not to mention nearly impossible to pick on a large scale.
I can already imagine the horrors of picking 10,000 little tiny mushies off a tray of shit every week or so after its first fruiting.

I'm with RR. Have come into the exact contact(from the look of them_)with the same babies when I haven't got around to pasteurizing all my poo. Have done experiments with growing out these fruits that come with bulk. Definitely doesn't look cuben at all.
