Geolite for a FC with casings

My FC now uses perlite, I started with a few cakes and a few casings, now im onto spawning grains to hpoo and casing. Since stepping up my grow im using a lot more room and just today i moved everything to a bigger rubbermaid tub and had to soak some more perlite and drain it and whatnot..... Its so messy, im extremely fed up with it, the old perlite smells and is grey and its just disgusting, and i was thinking since im doing only casings can i switch to geolite as the ONLY source for my humidity? I have a small fish tank air pump with a small bubble stone that is plummed into my FC that i run for about 20 minutes after i open to fan to catch the humidity back up, and the stone is just under the perlite, and ill run it for like 5 minutes randomly for more FAE.
Ive tried searching this but nothing answered my questions directly.... the one thing i got is my humidity wont be as high if i use geolite, but i dont need it as high as i have it now, as a matter of fact i have minor symptoms of too high humidity.
So again, can i switch to just geolite for humidity if im doing casings?

do a monotub. you can switch to geolite but that would involve making a poor mans pod because of the water

I thought alot about doing a monotub, but im in a dorm room and we have carpeted floors, i lose like 1 or 2 of every ten spawns i do to trich. I have ten quarts of Panama incubating now that i could do a monotub with but if it gets contaminated thats a ton of money lost.... i think im just going to spawn to hpoo in deep lasagna trays, thinking about just fruiting one without casing....
and as for the geolite.... what do you mean it had to be in water? i thought it was like perlite in the fact that it is porous.... but bigger size rocks? I guess i didnt search it enough

i guess someone with more expierence will have to chime in on this. im not sure if geolite can be used the same way as perlite. see im using geolite right now but in a pmp where its approx 4" of geolite and 2 " of water with bubblers constantly going under the water.

ok so i understand that now, that geolite is 3/4 submerged and uses air pumps with bubble wands, so my question to you now would be how often do you run your air pump, and how loud is it?
See i was thinking of geolite as a very porous rock.... like a big version of perlite. because that would be so easy, i guess what i have in mind is that reddish landscaping rock...

your thinking lava rock. that is also used in a pmp just like the geolite with the water and works just as good. the air pump is on 24/7 because this allows you to never have to fan or mist your work just change the water every 2 weeks or so

ok, so im assuming you have a "whisper" air pump? I mean i would love to do this, it keeps RH up and FAE constant. Most of all it eliminates my perlite mess, stink, and also it will help my fruits straighten out because the light reflects off the white perlite....
So my question is.... is your air pump silent?? because im in a dorm room with my roomate, and he knows about this all, but i dont want it to be loud and me be rude...

You should be fine with just that dude. Go to Wal-Mart they have some silent air pumps for very cheap. I'm thinking about $10.

I just went and talked to a friend that has lots of fish and i can get a whisper air pump big enough to power a 2 foot bubble stone, with 8 feet of tubing all for 35 bucks. WAY worth it considering it becomes care free, i only have to open when i want to look or harvest, and i get rid of my perlite mess! thanks everyone!

pmp's are nice. dont put 2" of water in it tho. sure it works, but the less water the better. i put just enough water in mine to cover the bubble wands...and their in the lowest part of the tub i use. water doesnt even touch the center. just lava rocks
