i'v noticd a lot of my friends have started to use that word, but they've never tripped on psychedelics. they use the word to describe flashy lights and weird patterns on a carpet and such. what does the word mean to YOU? i don't want any wikipedia definitions, just phrase your thoughts about the word.

Psychedelic means to me that it is beyond the "thought patterns beyond what is subjectivly considered your own personal state of sobriety"
In some ways, psychedelics always felt like a bigger view of what was already in my head, so in a small way, LSD, Shrooms, ect are very SOBERING to me.

I think 'Psychedelic' is an adjective used to describe anything that could be considered influenced by LSD or Magic Mushrooms, or has some connotation with either of those two drugs.

The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve." - Tom Morello

That works for me, though I'd include other psychedelics

I use it occasionally to describe really sur-imaginative things. Mostly in forms of art, primarily music. Sometimes conceptual ideas, I will brand as psychedelic. I use it as I would use the word "Wicked" except it kinda has an extra dimension of wonder implied.

For me a psychedelic is a powerfully good time. This involves being in a different state of consciousness.
