A good habitat for finding cyans

K, I've all but given up on lib caps since the fruiting here seems non-existant (and I'm also scared of cows + psycho farmers)
I've seen some suspicious shroomies on trails and pathways that appear to be cyan-like, but am wondering the "ideal" location for them since I think I'll spot more of those up here in the Fraser Valley.
To get this straight: 1) near or around leaves 2) woodchips/compost necessary (or not?) 3) partly shaded is ideal. 4) temperature = at least above feezing? (currently it's 6 degrees here) 5) lawns rich in lignin <-- what's lignin?
.. do you think going for a little hike on a mountain trail might be a good idea? Also, what about close to decaying blackberries?
Thanks for any any. Today = 3rd day after rain and tomorrow it starts pouring again! ..
