Cyanescens In SoCal - An Update

so while our camera is still chargerless, i've taking things into the hands of my *shudders* webcam.
yeah i know webcam pictures are balls, but these are just meant as an update for all those who puzzled over my original post (Psychoactive SoCal?)
as you can see, these guys may be small, but they're nice & wavy! i've actually obtained a few good-sized of late, but the balance between mature and over-ripe is a delicate one.

nice. You should contact the locl mycology society and let them know what you are finding. Ask them if people have found cyanescens in the past http://www.lamushrooms.org/contact.html
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Yeah, those are cyans. And they don't look too small, pretty average for cyans. Nice finds, I never would have thought they could have made it down there. I would guess they're coming in in the mulch. You should track down the landscaping company and see if they have other places they've been using that stuff.

that is a very good call...and the best explanation i've heard yet.
perhaps i'll send LAMS some pictures and stuff~you think they would be interested?
and subbedhunter...it's hard to believe that this is the only cyan patch in southern california...probability suggests that if they can take hold here, they're probably quietly doing their thing elsewhere too. keep looking wherever you find woodchips w/ irrigation...the biggest seem to thrive hiding under those ivy leaves too!

lams would be very interested if cyan are not common own there. WE just assume that they are not but this is old wisdom. Things change. Just look at the bay area

I looked all over Woodchips in San Diego, and never found any.... However, I have always believed they are growing in SoCal, somewhere at sometime. You can't possibly search every inch of a city as large as LA or SD, and there are soooo many microclimates. And what with travel these days, there are bound to be spores floating around in SoCal.
Yup, they looked like the Wavies here in the Bay.

i'd better make sure on that...when i said "ivy" i meant some kind of viney, leafy thing that just spreads over the ground and doesn't grow upwards. could be ivy, but maybe not.
oh spores.
so resistant, so well-travelled!

Cyans found in Los Angeles. Wow. I'd like to see someone else find some down there to prove that this isn't a fluke.

I know this threads dying but i was reading and wanted to post.
I know everyone said it was a cyan and im no expert or anything. But how are you sure thats a cyan? I dont think the stem looks particularly white and i see no blueing, not even around the edge of the cap. Could be a tubaria or some other similar mushroom? Im sure they were eaten lol.

It's a shitty photograph, but I have seen enough P. cyanescens to recognize the mushrooms in the photos. Because the photos are such crap, I have difficulty detailing the specific traits that set this apart from Tubaria, but I know they are not that.
