out of 5 straw logs, only 2 have normal maturation

so i got 5 straw logs going, 2 tex, 2 eq, 1 malaysian
the malaysian's and texs' pins grow for about a week to reach about 1-2" before they break their veils as very tiny mushrooms
the eqs are beautiful though, nice big fruits
all 5 have been treated in exactly the same way - room temp, plastic draped over them with some holes cut for airflow, plastic peeled away once a day
the malaysian was done with it's first disappointing flush a couple days before the others started pinning, so i figured i just got unlucky with a weak substrain. now with the texs doing just as poorly, i'm wondering if i could be doing something else wrong, as i've heard that there is only a small chance of getting such poor results due to substrain.
has anyone experienced this? how did you fix it?

When you've got one you're done fruiting it might be worth while to break it open outside and check for contams.

contams highly doubtful
pasteurized with bleach and lime, and they fully colonized within about 9 days. very little room for a contam to set in

If conditions are the same with all of them, and the straw was properly hydrated and pasteurized, then it's strain related. RR

I agree, but I've only seen extremely premature fruit formation when the sub was massively contammed. Did you use any exotic cleaning products around the grow? You didn't mention temps so I assume that nothing's odd there.
