The Grateful Dead magic!

I've always been a big fan of the grateful dead but lately their music has really been hitting me in a special way.
No other music gives me such deep emotions as the dead's, i feel it in my heart and i get goosebumps listening to some of their live jams. Literally my hair stands on end and i get bumpy skin when i hear a particularly good tune.
It moves you....
I'm not ashamed to say that I'm way too young to have been at an actual Grateful Dead performance but i surely wish i could've been to just one. I have had the luxury of seeing Ratdog play, opening up for the Allman Brothers (even though the crowd was way more wild for Ratdog then the bros). It was magical, i had never seen so many people tuned in at once just letting themselves go. I can't even imagine what it was like when the entire band was playing.
Anyone else feel the dead are amazing? Experiences? Thoughts?
Please don't flame here, if you aren't into the grateful dead thats fine with me, but rip on them in another thread por favor.

If you want to see a "live performance of the dead", look up a band called the Dark Star Orchestra. They play actual Dead setlists and they sound amazing. I swear if you go to one of thier shows and close your eyes you would swear you were at a dead show. Also Phil Lesh puts on an awesome show of mostly Dead songs.

yeah, he seemed to give it his all to try to do the music justice.
in a couple of interviews i was reading he was saying how he held the music in such high regard, basically as relics, and that it's "one of the hardest gigs, but somehow a lot easier with all those deadicated fans watching and supporting"
nice phriend phil

Dark Star Orchestra is good, i've seen them a few times at this place called Mexicali Blues. They're good, but i would take Ratdog or Phil and Friends over them any day of the week.
My friends are going to see Phil and Friends in the city tonight actually, whish i could've made the show.
