So I relapsed (meth & heart-related problems)
    #7599278 - 11/05/07 05:01 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

So I was clean off meth for like 7 months or something, until some dudes invited me to a party and asked me to go pick up a half-gram for them in exchange for some dilaudid.

They smoked me out, and it was only like 0.3 put in the bowl between 3 people. Apparently it was good meth, they got spun as hell and couldn't stop talking and organizing shit immediately but I had a very strange, calming reaction.

I was just sitting there on the couch, very tired and sleepy for some reason, heavy and slow breathing, and couldn't help but notice my heart--it wasn't beating particularly fast or anything, but it was pounding very hard, almost as if it were struggling. I became very groggy, and actually closed my eyes and fell asleep for a few minutes. I woke up and ended up dosing close to 15mg xanax (I have tolerance) to make my heart return to normal.

I asked my friend in medicine and he suspects it might have been ventricular arrythmia, elongated QT interval AKA Torsades de Pointes. Apparently it happens when your major ventricle hasn't recovered from its last beat for its next one, causing sudden blackouts and deaths?

Boy, things sure done changed. I mean, this isn't the first time that this has happened to me, but such a small dose of meth NEVER used to have that effect on me. I am wondering if it is possible that I have built up hardened scar tissue in my heart with all the years of use, and if there is any way to reverse it. Before I quit, my family doctor noted I had a heart murmur, and suggested quitting and exercise.

How else does one go about repairing this?

already done. it wasnt a pleasant experience for me. i dont know if seeing a cardiologist now would do anything, seeing as how the symptoms are gone. but i do know now that i am definitely predisposed for attacks in the future...

I have had the same problems. I remember being so tweeked out trying to force myself to sleep after over 1 week binges, and my heart jsut beating out of my chest, even after I had been sober from the drug for quite some time and the only thing keeping me up was amphetamine psychosis. I remember one time actually thinking I was going to die because of it, it is the main reason I "quit" meth(trying, but always seems to puff again after a while). I would be all twacked out with a knife and a flashlight hiding in my bedroom with all the lights off in my house, hiding under a blanket because I thought my friends were going to rob me or the cops were gonna kick in the door hahah. I laugh about it because its the only thing that can keep me from crying about it I guess. I seriouisly wouldn't wish that shit u[pon my worst enemy. I wish I could enjoy meth but anytime I take it I seem to kick back to the time I was up for half a month. That would be like a girl getting rapede at some guys house then going back to the house once every two months. Doesn't make sense does it? Meth has such a psychological hold on me even when I am not using it. Kinda sucks I jsut wanna get tweeked out and not look out the window/ stay up for more then a day.

Eat cayenne pepper. A little in the eggs in the morning or whatever. Amazing tonic for the cardiovascular system and, if you ask me, the body in general. And don't do meff.

I hate to sound like an anti drug commercial, but i really have to say this out of a place of compassion, not of bias or hate..
Crystal G....

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

"People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

stop self-medicating, or you are going to kill yourself.
