?Couple of questions?

OK first of all I would like to know if anyone has a good free anti-virus. I have gone to many different forums trying to find someone that knows a good free one that does not expire after 30 days or a year. And also wondering how to "clean" my computer. It has alot of big junk files from movies and such. Is putting it in the recycle bin or uninstalling it truly removing it from my computer? Kinda in the dark about some things, any help would be appriciatied.

Both linux and bsd are pretty good, free, and don't have virus problems.

A simple format for you hard drive will get rid of that windows stuff that doesn't work. Assuming you go with the above, use the newfs command.

Nope. It is kind of like pulling the index out of a book. The pages may not be in the correct order, but they still have words written on them. Given enough time and effort, an expert can reconstruct the "book".

so these are anti-virus programs that will block unwanted things?

My windows stuff works fine i just wanna delete huge movie files and songs (mp3's) so that they will not slow me down any further
>use the newfs command.

linux is a completely different OS, and it's awesome. when you send things to the recycle bin you're not really deleting them. you have to go to the recycle bin and empty it. and about free antivirus maybe you should check out AVG or Avant, i've heard NOD32 is good but i've never used it and don't know if it's free. when i used windows i used kaspersky, which isn't free but it can be free if you do it correctly.
but now that i'm using ubuntu i need not worry.

AVG, and Avast are two good free ones, Panda used to have a free one, not sure anymore. Spybot s&d, CCleaner, are also good to keep you adware free.
But as Seuss said, the only sure fire way to stop viruses and adware, is to go linux or mac.

Even then, you really aren't deleting them... you are only marking them as deleted. An expert can still reconstruct the deleted data up until the OS overwrites the area with something else.

Sorry, I was being a bit "difficult". Linux/BSD are free versions of the Unix OS. Unix doesn't suffer from the virus/malware/spyware problems that windows inherited from it's horrid design flaws.
