Wow... I've been lurking here for a while and though I never said anything, I always enjoyed Coon's odd and informative posts + the smiley thing was classic! That's so sad, he seems like a really cool person. There will definitely be a little something missing here @ the Shroomery.

I'm pretty much in shock right now... coon was an amazing, ridiculously funny person with a sense of humor that could be as subtle as the subtle tea tits, or in your face like a happy coon dog. He was also a terrific hunter. So weird, you form these relationships with people on a message board, you feel like you know them and you feel their loss acutely. Truth is, I don't know how old he was, what he did for a living, or what he looked like (though I picture him as the crazy old redneck smiley). I hope his end was peaceful, and that the thoughts in his head were happy ones.

I'll miss you

I've only been posting here for a short while, but coon's posts were those that I remember most. He's the only one who actually caused me to laugh out loud in my bedroom like a crazy person. A terrible tragedy.
My deepest condolences to his friends and family.

Coon was from Pennsylvania. After a couple weeks had passed and he was still silent, I sent a PM to see if there were extension cord problems at the shack. Didn't hear anything back until his wife responded today with the sad news. Coon reached out to me when all you hifalutin no canned fish eatin types made fun of my sardines. He was a dedicated mushroom hunter. Check out his gallery... seven pages of morel pictures
