Video Power Hour - Construction Questions

I'm sure you have all heard/played/or made a power hour before. 80 minutes of 80 songs on 1 cd. (Or for a standard power hour, 60 min) I make simple PHs by opening mp3s in cooledit and copy the best minute out of a song and copying it into another.
What I plan to do is just rip 80 videos from various sites and then taking a minute of each out. The problem I'm facing is what programs to use for this?
I am ripping these from various streaming sites and saving them in mpg or AVI, whichever would work best.
Any ideas on how to do this? Video seems to be alot more complex then just ripping a minute out of a song with cooledit and copying into another cooledit window.
Anyone have suggestions on how to make this possible? I've already got the ripper.
What is the most easy to use video editor out there?

Alright, turns out they don't make anything remotely like Imovie for windows wich is completely lame.
What video editing programs do you use ?
I'm trying out Vegas but it is just giving me a fucking headache over codecs.

You might look into "mencoder" part of the mplayer suite. I know you can use mencoder to transcode starting and stopping at time/frame offsets from within the source material. MPlayer is open source and some idiot probably ported it to windows. (I completely disagree with people that port open software to windows... they are idiots for helping Microsoft maintain a stranglehold on the computing industry. Personally, I think the GPL and other open source licenses should exclude any Microsoft platform.)
