First Signs of Life

So initially, I thought maybe my rye was too dry, but after 5 days of incubation, I see my first signs of myc in the bottom of my jars. I was getting a little impatient because I am used to seeing earlier signs... Then I figured... I soaked for 24 hours, even simmered for 20 minutes... They should be wet enough if you just wait. Not to mention that I am used to using my own spore syringes which usually have like 20 times more spores in em The growth is sparse and just taking hold, so I have a little more time before spawning... wish me luck. One question... Is it still possible though, that my rye is too dry and what actions should I be taking to ensure the survival of my new growth? Thanks X to the Ooooo

Good luck bro! Patience is key! And just make sure you are keeping everything somewhat sterile. As far as your rye being too dry, no idea, sorry! Post some pics maybe someone else can give a better evaluation.

I figured I was being a little bit impatient.. I was just trying to tone down the rye wetness with this run... So I didn't simmer as long and trying new things always leaves me questioning and slightly uneasy. Was a little worried but can rest with ease seeing the beautiful white spots Can't wait to test my new spacey mans! I picked some awesome strains One thing I will attest to... This is the first time I haven't seen that caramel layer of wet at the bottom of my rye jars... I think I'm more comfortable without that... than with fast colonization. Besides.. When I make MY syringes, the difference in the amount of spores going into the jars will make ALL the difference. Purple Water... Those are the syringes I like Thanks everyone for the reassurance X to the Ooooo

I can't send a pic, I can testify that my sterile techniques have never failed me I will say that the LOOK of the berries is fine... They look very nice.. but they do not stick together at all... except a little at the bottom... So I was a little worried that they did not have enough moisture.. I like it better this way though... I always hated having wet in the bottom of my jars... So I toned down my simmer time and upped my strain time. I'm very optimistic right about now... I'll check em again in a couple days and hopefully they will be ready for shaking.

home made syringes rock, they are always very very dark.
however, when isolating, one would want a near crystal syringe. With a very very low ppm of spore to solution.

I have allot to learn on that one... Any quick links on this topic or would you mind enlightening me P.S. I looked at the F+ log, excellent work... what material do you use for your filters? It looks easier and cleaner than Tyvek.. Me needs some of those glove boxes too, are those home made?
