March 19th - No Business as Usual

Cheers everyone.
I was fortunate enough to be in San Francisco last week for a large pro-peace rally. We heard speeches from Mumia (via a phone recording from death row,) the leaders of the remaining American Indian Tribes, Veterans Against the Iraq War, Citizens of Iran pleading for us to do something so that the United States does not instigate a war there, Cindy Sheehan, and others.
All bombing is terrorism, all war is terrorism. The United States Government's Propoganda Machine (and by that I mean not only the White House Press Secretary but also CNN, Fox News, etc.) claims that Iran is a huge threat to the 'civilized world,' but it is WE who have over 200 military bases in over 100 countries throughout the world. WE - alone - have used nuclear weapons.
March 19th is going to be NO BUSINESS AS USUAL Day. Please speak with your unions, your co-workers, your teachers, your students. We will not be attending work, we will not be attending school, we will be out in the streets, in front of city hall, anywhere we can be actively voicing our cries for the RIGHT to peace on this earth and the cessation of imperialism and genocide.
Please do your part, peace and namaste all.
-------------------- Jumped in a river, what did I see? Black eyed angels swimming with me Moon full of stars and astral cars, all the figures I used to see All my lovers were there with me All my past and all my futures We went to heaven in a little rowboat There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

If I told my boss I had to take off March 19th to attend a peace march,
He would tell me:
"You're fired."
-------------------- "America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve." - Tom Morello

Sue him.
Unless you're in the army, then I consider it justified.
Soldiers for peace MY ASS. They're just too humiliated (sometimes they are stupid enough to admit though, and others feel pity...damn idiots) to admit that they signed up for a paycheck and no expectation that they would ever have to go to war.
They think they can mooch of the government? Ehhhh!

No, you're just being dramatic, or have a terrible boss, in which case, your job must really suck. Most people have personal days that they can use if scheduled in advance.
