Paralytic Shellfish Poison - Can it affect wild mushrooms?

I recently found some cyanescens on a beach near tacoma, wa. Upon returning to this area again I noticed signs saying "beware , shellfish may have Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning. Do NOT Eat wildife from these waters."
My question is, is it possible for this toxin to be in the mushrooms since they were growing in an area that seemed to be within high tides reach?
I picked about 30 grams dried and I just want to know if they are safe to eat of if they should be thrown out.

Mushrooms don't consume algae, so they're fine. In addition, I've never found mushrooms, even azures on the coast, in an area that is reached by high tides. Perhaps a storm surge, but not high tide. The repeated assault of salt water would kill the fungi. RR

thanks for the reply. I also thought that the mushies wouldnt be affected since they dont consume algae. i was however worried since mycelium is known to absorb toxins from molds etc. I wanted to be safe rather than sorry.
The beach area I was referring to had an inlet where it seemed some of the sea water came up during high tide. Kind of like a small raveen(sp?). The grassy parts near this raveen were soaking wet while all the other grasses in the area were bone dry. This is what made me assume that hightide came in. Now that I think about it, it is probably the opposite. Its probably from fresh water running into the ocean.
As always thanks for your great help RR!

No it doesn't. I've worked for years to defeat that myth around here. If it were true, every wild mushroom ever picked would be toxic because all grow in the presence of multiple molds, yeasts, and bacteria. RR

Someone should go through some of the teks on this site and remove the parts that claim a contam will cause the mushrooms grown from that cake to be toxic. I even remember reading somewhere that some contams could cause the mushrooms to be deadly.
Thanks for making me that much more knowledgeable!
