Cyans in the UK

Finally! Cyans!
These must have been around for a week or so before I got to them. Some were a bit dry. They are no where near as healthy and robust as I imagine they could be, considering it has only rained a couple times this season. I'm not complaining though.

this one speaks for the rest of them:)
What an intimidating place to hunt for mushrooms! This was the center of this newly built neighborhood or should I say colony. These buildings go around 360degrees and not a soul in sight. I felt like I was in a sci-fi flick. Since it was in the middle of the day and I was the only one around. I felt eyes on me the whole time. Of course, my mind got to me and I became really paranoid of CCTV cameras and vigilant grannies phoning the police. No matter what, I couldn't keep cool. It's not fun to feel like a criminal.

Glad thats over with. But, I can't help it. I have to go back in a few weeks to reconnoiter. I have to say, when I went back the next day for the rest of them, the spot seemed a bit disheveled. I don't think I made a mess of them. I also noticed several other wood chip beds with mycelium everywhere, but no fruiting bodies. Nothing was blueing though. They were near play areas, so, maybe cautious parents were clearing all mushrooms out for fear of their kids. who knows.

i know location-talk is taboo...
but are you by any chance in a famous university town?
you know, the university that won the boat race?

aha!
i knew it!
funny thing is, i stayed in that same, scary-quiet complex for a week around my brother's wedding this summer!
in fact, i know exactly where those woodchips are & they are right by the playground...your protective parent theory makes good sense.
this is still too weird. the cyans are following me!

the ones over here seem to look quite different from what i expected, i'm sure i passed some of those not too long ago, but they didn't look gold as the usual ones we see from over the states do!

haha, thats great! I found these where I took the photo. The play area was emptied out. So it wasn't just me? This place is creepy! Whenever I go there I think, "so this was Orwell's vision". These are the communities of the future? Well, I guess its fine as long as there are plenty of cyans hidden in them. PM me if you are ever in this part of the world again.
Oh yeah, enjoy your rare find in SoCal!

hahaha!
orwellian communities of the future indeed! we stayed in one of the terraces...there's a company that does them up for business-folk and rents them out weeks at a time. it was pretty nice inside, but bizarre as hell.
i will hit you up fo sho...i don't get to go back as much as i'd like...but my brother lives neeearish so we could meet up for a drink or something.
cheers mate, you too!

These were pretty dried out. They seemed a bit off the mark at first glance, but when you get closer theres no question you've struck cyans. Its a great feeling. I've seen chips with lookalike cortinarius in them all over the place. Maybe thats what you saw? dunno. I don't think there is ever a mushroom in a woodchip bed that I don't at least check out at a closer range. Its almost an uncontrollable compulsion. Keep your eyes open. I think they should be coming up nicely in these next few weeks.
Sounds good Faceofbear! You'll hear from me if I'm around your area.
