mescaline preparation.

i plan to have a mescaline trip on the thanksgiving weekend if all goes well.
i plan on dying out my cuttings in an oven cracked open and set to 150 degrees.
then crushing this dry matter.
then doing an iso alcohol extraction in a mason jar for a long while.
then drying out this hopefully loaded alcohol in a pyrex dish to make mescaline tar balls.
has anyone tried this type of preparation? any suggestions for improvement? how long should i allow cactus powder and alcohol to sit together?

I not a big fan of the cactus tar, sludges, and "teas",myself. I'd suggest doing an extraction, they're both easy and fun to do
You really won't need anything other than cactus(check), some gallon jugs(old apple juice for instance), Sodium Hydroxide (cheap), HCl (dirt cheap), and a solvent such as Xylene. You could probably make your own separatory funnel as well, just get creative!

If you can make it down to a local pharmacy, chances are you can get to a small hardware store such as Ace, as well. Sodium Hydroxide can be found there sold as "lye", and Hydrochloric Acid can be found labeled "muriatic acid". Xylene might be a little tough to find locally, however, you could probably get away with using another solvent you may come across.
An old 2-liter soda bottle could serve as your makeshift separatory funnel.

Xylene is cheap and easily available online. For a seperatory funnel, get a 2 litre (or whatever size that is in broken imperial) bottle, then get a sports cap that is the same diameter. There you go, you got yourself a 2 litre seperatory funnel for less than a fiver, instead of £80 for a 1 litre wanktacular sep funnel.

Maybe he doesn't have the space to do an A/B extraction that involves dangerous chemicals and extremely odorous solvents. I think you should do the iso extraction on the ground dry cacti. Use 60-80 grams of the dried green flesh per dose, soak in enough alcohol to cover the powder by about 1/2", strain after about a week with a t-shirt or panty hose, and evaporate in pyrex pan. This tar is extremely sticky so you'll want flour or powdered sugar to roll it around in. It can be frustrating, but once you get enough powder mixed in it gets easier. I suggest you split your dose in four parts and take them in fifteen minute increments to reduce nausea. It usually takes me three hours to reach the peak this way, and is my preferred method of ingesting cacti. Good luck.

the hardware store is half hour walk from here
3 time further than both the cactus and the pharmacy.
if i was not in the dorm situation that i am i would be doing a proper extraction.

I have read a couple of things about isopropyll alcohol getting stuck in the tar balls even after long evaporations. Isopropyll is poisonous isn't it?
If possible you should just do the same thing with everclear or another high proof grain alcohol instead, since those are safe to consume.

I always use everclear just because it's more effective, but trust me eating an alcohol extract isn't going to make you sicker than eating raw cactus if its solid it's fine, it will be very sticky like ibruiseblue said if you're going to let it sit for a week you might as well do three pulls (2 days each shake the jar every once in awhile) and evaporate the combined pulls in your dish
