I actually haven't read the book, but I'm a huge PKD fan. Is the book worth buying and reading, even after seeing the movie numerous times? i.e. are there a significant amount of things left out of the movie?
The majority of Philip K. Dick-inspired movies are total crap. Anyone see that newer Nick Cage starrer _Next_? It's based on the short story _The Golden Man_. Such a disappointment. Dick's name should not even be on that garbage. They just took one element of the story, and trashed the rest. Added some action and a love story. The same thing they did with 'BladeRunner.'

well, yeah for the first part, the whole running theme through the book is this scanner that the paranoid roomie broke (played by robert downy jr in the movie)
other than that it's mostly the book was set in the 70s and the movie is set in the present

I was watching that movie the other day and decided a certain scene might make a good avatar.
<-----------
This was the scene that most profoundly impacted me. The paranoia of driving in a car high with large amounts of drugs. The police really are out to get you in that situation. Very unnerving.

Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve." - Tom Morello

It's good, but I don't know if I would buy it. I read it in about 3 hours. It's good, but not worth shelling out $10+ dollars for new.
