Truth About Religion

I've watched a few videos on YouTube, and read some stuff on other sites, and now I realize that all religions are basically the same. They all seem to be related to Astronomy.
This video explains it, it has 2 other parts, but it basically shows you all Religions throughout history have been based on the same story.

I generally don't allow youtube videos to shape my beliefs.

Yeah but the video I posted isn't a supermarket tabloid.
Just because a thing has something in common with another thing, doesn't mean they're the same.

Just to clarify - it's not a YouTube video, specifically; it's the first of three parts of a documentary(style) film called Zeitgeist. I thought it was very thought provoking, and the points the film makers bring up are definitely worth looking into - the religious aspects, and the sections on government and politics. The predominant message that the film tries to get across is the fact that we, the people, should not take things for face value, but rather we should do our own research and draw our own conclusions (whenever possible).
I highly recommend that anyone with an inquisitive mind watch it.

Are you kidding, this again!??!!??!?!
Zeitgeist's claims on religion are fabricated bullshit to the max, and it's been posted a zillion times.

Thanks, but there's been several threads on it already: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7261220 http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7292561 http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7289164/an/0/page/1
I don't know about the 2nd and 3rd segments of that film, but the first chapter is total made-up bs from top to bottom.
The 2nd was interesting yet still speculation, but the 3rd part was the most comprehensive documentary on its subject I've watched, dealt with facts, and is the keeper out of the 3 parts.

Pretty much sun worship, with entheogens, but modern religion is so far distanced from that people had difficulty telling.

"This film was created as a not for profit expression to inspire people to start looking at the world from a more critical perspective and to understand that very often things are not what the population at large think they are. It's important to point out that there is a tendency to simply disbelieve things that are counter to our understanding, without the necessary research performed. For example, some information contained in Part 1 and Part 3, specifically, is not obtained by simple keyword searches on the Internet. You have to dig deeper. For instance, very often people who look up "Horus" or "The Federal Reserve" on the Internet draw their conclusions from very general or biased sources. Online encyclopedias or text book Encyclopedias often do not contain the information contained in Zeitgeist. However, if one takes the time to read the sources provided, they will find that what is being presented is based on documented evidence. That being said, it is my hope that people will not take what is said in the film as the truth, but find out for themselves, for truth is not told, it is realized. - Peter J., creator of Zeitgeist."
Liked the movie, mainly for its intention of raising questions. Prefered the 3rd part out of all of them, excellant conclusion. But yes, it's important that EVERYTHING be questioned, even when information presented as counter to the status quo. Still would rather have this seen by the general public, rather than the typical snorefest released into theatres these days.

it can also be found at "www.zeitgeistmovie.com"
i watched most of it there. a lot of it seems somewhat legitimate, but in order to have a view on something you need to know both sides.
not just how it all 'RELATES' to astronomy.
i found it all to be pretty powerful, but then again, i don't know for SURE if everything that he says is true.

perhaps the numerology and symbology they traced in pt1 are just built directly into the fabric of the meta-physical universe. if so it would make sense that they would appear over and over again without it meaning that it all stemmed from the same source.
not that i believe that.
i do think religion and the symbology they use are not the same thing though, so while the symbology may be based on the observable universe, i think dirent cultures have built religions with very different emotions and realizations.
