the blue stuff is the only micropore that I know of. any other colors are probably the wrong thing. it has to say:
3M Micropore
on the package, or don't use it.

The package HAS to say "3MTM MicroporeTM"
The Nexcare package says it at the bottom of the package, under the words "Gentle Paper".
It says: "Hospital name: 3MTM MicroporeTM Surgical Tape"
if it doesn't say 3M Micropore, it's not the right stuff. no matter what package it's in.

I got some of that today! Glad it was the right kind. Will that survive the PC?

why would you PC it? you put it on to cover up your innoc holes.

indeed, the typical usage is such that you use it to cover a hole and then rub it down with an alcohol wipe so that it's thoroughly wet with the rubbing alcohol after it's first applied. Once the alcohol dries the micropore tape will then be a gas-permeable (breathable) contamination barrier.
The most common uses - in my experiments - of micropore tape are to cover the holes created by the needle during inoculation of rye grains and to cover the several dozen holes created through the cover of my trays of substrate during it's colonization (spawn run).
There's no need for it before the jars are inoculated nor - in my humble experience - any need for it when working with PF-Styled Jars. The dry vermiculite layer is the gas-permeable contamination barrier in that case.
