A thought....

I was wondering, if it would make sense, to instead of using a layer of perlite on the bottom of your fruiting chamber, but to createa sort of perlite troph, and setup a tilter mist guard that drips into the troph?

Like, have a piece of glass/plastic as some guides suggest, that you spray onto, so as not to hit the cakes, but instead of lining the entire bottom in perlite, simply creating a trouph (if you dont know that like a bowl kind of, but rectangular) that strectes the length of the misting guard, and is like 2 inches long, and like 2 inches high? Filled with perlite, when you mist the guard, it would be placed so as the water drips right into it. It would save some csh on perlite, and should work, Ide imagine. Though perlite isnt expensive at all, cash is cash, and you could get more use out of one bag.

Just a thought...

You're in the what now?

Thats one idea that i like alot.
I have it made up in my mind that perilte is messy and can be unpleasent. a mess to change out clean up whatever.
but a trough funning underneath the length of drip shield sounds good. misting and perlite should bring humidity up. more than you would if you were just misting alone. I imagine that even a small trough full of wet perilte would make up some RH.
