ok so because the pnw has been getting colder and colder every day i decided to bring my sally plants in. i have a nice lil green house in my closet and i think they will do fine through the winter. anyway shortly after bringen em in i had the begining of a huge aphid infestation {on my largest plant, its around 3.5 feet tall} the lil fuckers were piled up on all the new growth zones. so i clipped a bunch of leaves off and went to the hydro store and picked up some foxfarms insecticide, its active ingredient is pyrethum {i think thats how its spelled}. i sprayed it on and sure enough it did the trick, but a few leaves have been falling too, they're the really old ones from when it was in the veg stage but still
i just wanted to know if washing the poisen off with water before i dried the leaves did the trick or do i have to throw em all out
i washed em pretty good and the bottle says you can use the product up untill the day of harvist {in fruits and vegies} so i doubt its that bad, but i really dont know much about poisens
anyone?

good question... if it says its safe to use up until harvest then i guess it should be ok...
but personally i wouldnt eat or smoke anything that had been sprayed with pyrethrin or anything else for that matter...
Quote:
Pyrethrins are neurotoxins that attack the nervous systems of all insects. When present in amounts not fatal to insects, they still appear to have an insect repellent effect. They are harmful to fish, but are far less toxic to mammals and birds than many synthetic insecticides. They are non-persistent, being biodegradable, and also break down easily on exposure to light or oxygen. They are considered to be amongst the safest insecticides for use around food. For humans, pyrethrin is known to irritate eyes, skin, and respiratory systems and is particularly harmful to aquatic life.
