after ur first flush. dunk the cakes in a pot of water for 24 hours. use something like a plate tokeep them submerged.
then take em out rinse under tap roll in dry verm and back in the fc.
spray the dry verm to moisten it.
bring on the 2nd flush.
ihave heard of people getting 6 flushes.
some people dith after a few some keep going till nothing happens or contams show up

Congrats! After you pick ALL of the mushrooms off(aborts too) dunk the cake(s) in water for 12 hours. Make sure to weigh them down; a plate does nicely.
Next, rinse the cake(s) under tap water, and roll them in some vermiculite.
Once again, congradulations, and I hope your babies do well

Ok I'm sort of lazy on this part but I never do the rinsing with tap water thing. I did at first but I found that I beat up the cakes too much that way and just wound up bruising them. So instead I just dunk them for 24 hours and take them right out of the dunk water and roll them in dry vermiculite. I wait about 3 hours for the dry verm to sort of harden to the cake and then I mist the crap out of them. I try to hit them really well the next day too. Then I neglect them until flush two comes along. Which usually doesn't take long at all.
Also during dunking I don't know what kind of plates other people have or how many cakes they are dunking at a time but my cakes will float a plate right back to the top of the kettle. Plus if I put something heavy on top of it the play frequently would flip over to one side and the stip cakes would float right out from under it. So I use this instead of a kettle and a plate. It's a steamer pot. No fuss and easy to work with. I fill the water to the top of the pot then I just stick weight lifting weights on the top ... steam... do-dad ... thing. Anyway look at the picture. The piece to which I am trying to refer is in the bottom right corner of the picture. It's a porous shallow basket that has a handle. I put this into the pot after I have filled it with water and placed the cakes in the water. This sumberges the cakes about an inch below the water line. Then I place weights in the basket then put a lid on the whole thing. Works great for me.

This I believe is an example of a third flush.
