how do you recognize a liar or manipulator or whatnot? is it ever ok to lie? i can't see past the words and get to the real meaning of what people are trying to say. call it subliminal ques (q's) or whatever, but alot of times i think its peoples egos just playing power games and i subconsciously ignore it, and thus bad energy tends to build up until it breaks and then im like wow i really misread that situation.:) this is one reason why i want to live in a cave.

"I'd like to live beneath the dirt, a tiny space to move and breath is all that i would ever need" - Phish, Dirt
Yeah i think i do the same thing. A lot of times i think people are playing games with double *antondras* (*speelling off). I used to ignore the shit, and either think i made itup in my head, or that they are just an asshole trying to play mindgames. But i have found its better to address these little confused instances right when they happen, ignoring them only made me paranoid.

I've always enjoyed the saying, "Don't Believe Everything You Know." Even in Science, much of what has historically been known as truth and fact, has turned out to be a false assumption once more data has been unearthed and understood. Therefore, I find it important to remind myself - whenever I begin to feel upset, jealous, envious, really any of those fairly negative emotions we as humans experience throughout our day to day existence - that while I ought to use the fabrications within my mind for guidance, I ought not to rely on them completely, and leave myself open and ready to be proven wrong at every turn. Understand and accept that you are just as fallible as those to whom you bear witness. Those egos and power games that you are perceiving, other people may also be perceiving of you. And in the end, there is little right or wrong about any of it, it is for the most part personal opinion birthed from within our very own consciousness.
In other words, try not to presume to know what someone else is thinking, when you might not even know what you are thinking!

I have this problem where once I trust or respect someone, then I'm more likely to believe what they say. I sometimes have to remember that even intelligent and honest people can still be wrong.

i like that, they could be seeing the same thing in me, yeah.
i wonder if the way is to create a space apart from both ego's which is accessible and interesting yet totally ignores the ego drama that was just happening.

I believe Atom was referring to the previous suggestion of creating "a space apart from both ego's", when interacting with another human being. Unfortunately, I don't think this is possible. Our mind and ego are inseperable, and therefore the ego will always be present and influencing us to some degree, whenever we engage in thought or action.

To beat the liars...
Ask them a couple of questions that you know the answers too. Analyse every bodymovement and eye movement.
Watch their pattern of truthful speaking carefully, when they lie the pattern will change, even if only slightly such as the eyes glancing up and right instead of up and left.

ego, couldn't that method cause some paranoia (which might be misread as lying) if you are like squinting and leaning towards people and shaking your finger at their every move
