What spiritual reminder is most useful to YOU?
    #7594036 - 11/04/07 10:19 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

Out of the countless volumes of spiritual history we have written down through the ages, I'm asking, which notion helps you, advances you, strengthens you, lately?

For me, its the second noble truth "the origin of suffering is attachment," or "clinging is suffering." Its a reminder to let go. This clinging happens outside of my awareness, so when I become aware of excess anxiety, I think "clinging is suffering, so let go" and it works.

So for you, at this moment in your development, what helps you?

I want to able to believe in something greater than myself. To truly do that and let no physical pain or barriers come between. I feel this picture is the greatest example of such.

So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

That's cool. Just FYI, you don't need to be on fire to have a good meditation session and transcend the stress of your body and mind

I like this question, makes me review what things have had an influence on me lately. For a while it was the thought that we only ever experience our own nervous system. Just remembering this lets me let go of whatever thought is pulling me away from being centered. I think somewhere I read that this was one of Buddha's teachings but I am unsure exactly where I heard it, its useful for me which is the important thing to me tho. =]

Also I have been watching Nithyananda videos on You-tube, and I really enjoy a "technique" he speaks about where you always think "How would a liberated being (or your favorite spiritual influence) would react to this thought", I have found this useful recently.

I might be here for a much longer time than I thought so I had better practice awareness if I want to enjoy it

Sometimes i'm stuck in darkness only to find myself wishing for things that will never come.

Like i'm dreaming of becoming something that will never happen.

So yes, I need to let go and live in the now and don't worry about things so much.

I must find myself again and again.

Grenades do not protect against cancer - a pet fear, having survived it once. An attitude of fearlessness is the best defense against fear, and it's good for the immune system too.

"For me there is only the traveling on the paths that have a heart, on any path that may have a heart. There I travel, and the only worthwhile challenge for me is to traverse its full length. And there I travel--looking, looking, breathlessly."
Spoken by Don Juan from something made up by Carlos Castaneda

--------------------
What boundlessness the pit of consciousness travels toward an infinite being.
The cave is full of tumultuous obstacles, webs seemingly inescapable.
There lies the path of knowledge forming thick and thin quantum fluctuations of living operations.
And its inescapable quality of beauty is far beyond the reflection of its depths.
Further I fall diving head first downwards into a black hole, plunging with intension to ascension.
