I recommend the V400 vicks/kaz coolmist found at this page:
http://www.vicks.com/products/more_products.shtml
never heard any complaints and it has some way of putting the water into the air other than evaporation, so it gets to 99% or so quick(or atleast better than the ones that just evaporate the water). Plus it is a closed container that sucks the water in through a filter. No air can get in unless it goes through the filter.... not all do that. If your cool mist can get to the desired Humidity, it's all good! if not first check to see if your terrarium is sealed well, then try using atleast 1 inch garden hose or something like that. i had bought an evaporating cool mist and it didn't work to well, so I returned it and got my vicks/kaz for $25. W-Mart takes everything back!!

Depending on the size of your terrarium/rubbermaid it may take a couple hours for the mist to build up for you to see the condensation. If you don?t see any after say 3 hrs you need to check the seal by running your hand around the lid. Where there are leaks you will feel a cold sensation. In the pic below you can see where I had to use wooden dowels and bungee cords to pull my lid tighter because it wasn?t sealing.

the V400 has an opening in the middle that is covered with tape in groinggrinders pic, you will have to drill to fit something on the sides.I had the same humidifier that you describe and it didn't work very well at all. If you read the instructions, it says that it can't push humidity past 65%. That may only be trueabout a large room, but still. The salt tek should not be used with iodized salt according to a url posted by anno.
