I've only seen the sample footage on youtube but plan on getting it too very soon.
If you read through the threads you'll see RR gives good quality information and as he seems an experienced grower I don't doubt that he's very thorough with his explanations. Most people would only use one or two teks and RR seems to give instruction one multiple fronts.
I'm new to the forums but I've been a reader for some time now. I say go for it!

It's a great way to set your basis for learning on something so informative. Whether just starting off or getting more advanced, it's a great thing to take up the habits of knowledgeable growers. If you start with good habits, then you won't have to worry about breaking the bad ones later

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

Here's the bottom line, in my humble opinion...
Some people learn by reading, some people learn by doing but everyone can benefit by _watching_ it be done. It takes all ambiguity out of the interpretation of the written word or a misunderstand of a given picture because it shows the various processes start to finish.
And whether you appreciate the content or not, you have to at least respect the time, effort and money that went into the production of the content. Having been a part of a co-authored technical manual on .NET development I can tell you that there's very little money to be had in this line of work. Considering it's very niche market, he's going to be lucky to break even on the cost of production.
Is owning/watching it going to teach you everything you'll ever need to know about mycology? No. But if you want to get a huge leg up on your technique or want to branch out into more, otherwise-considered, advance topics such as cloning it will definitely be worth the small investment.
I guess the best way to look at it is this...
Is $50 more or less money that you've wasted on "bad investments" in gear or failed previous experiments and could the $50 potentially save you from making further bad investments and/or wasted materials on failed future experiments.
--------------------
Don't mistake my tone for a "matter-of-fact" attitude. I'm just presenting what I believe to be correct, until I'm corrected... - How Myco-Curious Prepares Coir & Compost Substrates - How Myco-Curious Builds A Bulk Humidifier - How Myco-Curious Builds An Automated Greenhouse ------------------------------------ figgusfiddus said: Keep in mind that inoculating or whatever in front of a flow hood won't help your bad substrate, your bad inoculant, your bad sterile procedure, etc. etc. etc. It's not a +3 flowhood of magic, it's just a tool.

Knock off the flaming people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if the majority disagree. I think RogerRabbit has done a great job with his DVD and I think many people have been helped by its release.
If you folks continue the flame fest, I will have no choice but to close this thread and take administrative action against the offending parties. Please don't force me to take such an action against you. Thank you.
