first pins in sight
    #759268 - 07/19/02 12:27 PM (22 years, 6 months ago)

I finally saw some tiny ass pins on the bottom of the cake. They were quite the surprise (less than 1/2" long) 2 on one side and the other 2 opposite side. This cake has a double verm casing while the other cake doesnt...makes me think i will alwayz go with a dvc from now on in! Im bringing the RH down a bit...but if additional cakes and casing will be added to the same terr, how should i make ideal conditions for all. I mean the cake with pins needs a much lower humidity than the new ones. And using another terrarium ...no can do! How can I get every1 living in there to be happy with the conditions?

I sure hope those pins grow bigger the next day...

Real happy at the surprise. They look so un noticeable until u really look closely ..then BAMmMmM, u see something stickin out from the bottom like lil match sticks LOL Sure hope more pins show up and that those 4 are not all there is.

Thx all to those that has helped and answered my questions.

First pins are always a good sight . If its only cakes in the terr now dont bring the rH down at all, leave it high!

OooooppPPPPPs....

I brought down the humidity to about 92-96%. I forgot that with casing, the humidity (after pins appear)
should be at 85-92

Leaving it high with pins?? That's good cuz i could add the casing when its done and the other cakes too
in the same terr. =D

They grew a lil bigger today ...i couldnt help but to stare for , like, 30 mins at the amazement.
It is one thing to see other ppl pics
but it's ANOTHER to see dem for ya own eyes...just right there WHAM BAM DAMMMM! lol
They have like 3 layers of color. The reddish brown tip , then a white ring , then the light brownish beige stalk.
2 have grown more than twice its size but the other 2...arGGgggggg! Grow dammit (HEHH hehh)

Thx fd

U havent gotten any pins yet jordi?
Let me tell u that it is QUITE the site and experience. It's one thing to trip on shrooms but to actually SEE them
as a baby and grow into maturity and knowing what ur about to embark on after u pick them with ur own
bare hands....gis' me goosebumps =D
U'll find urself just staring at them, the amazement, the formation, the accomplishment. Right there
inches away from ur eyes. All pure. not messed around with and not knowing if it was altered with...
100% na-tu-ral! Ohhhhhh......i think im developing an erection now LOL

Here's what im noticing with my pins and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One cake. Say at 3 o'clock, u have 2 pins. And at 9 o'clock, u have another 2. 24 hours later one pin from each
side measures at 1/2"long, while the pin beside them measures at 1/3" long
Fast forward to 3 dayz later. Those pins are now 3"long. They have gone from a indian red colored head
to almost an amber colored head. One of the pin seems to have a ring betw the stalk and the head>>>What is that and is that good?
Now the other 2 pins beside them have not really grown in those 3 dayz(still at 1/3" length). And they do seem to have a black
tip (or head) they r so friggin tiny!!! But they also seem to be adjoined to their growing sisters.
Now should i remove them immature, bratty, non growers? and if i do, im concerned that they will
tear into the bigger ones and thus possibly cause a bruise onto them. Could that happen?
Also i saw some mycellium growth onto one of those brats (near the base of the stalk. covers half of it)
Is that also an indication that it is an abort?

They look soooo lovely, even though it is 2...but the amber colored cap, looks so cool!!

Thx every1

Hope that all makes sense

Everything sounds normal. The 'black heads' are abhorts. I recommend picking them when you pick the normal fruit since they are adjoined.

If i wait to pick those aborts when it comes time to pick the normal fruits, wouldnt those baby suckers
have contaminated the cake by then?? It just worries me. Bad enough that only 4 pins showed...
so it would be a catastrophy it the cake went bad if i waited too long and the aborts destroyed the cake.

DAM aborts.

just keep a hawk's eye on them. If you see something funky on the aborts then pick them off. If not wait till you pick all your fruits. My friend just got his first flush *sigh*
