Question about uncased straw brick
    #7592102 - 11/03/07 06:58 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

Hi guys and gals. If a grower has an uncased, colonized straw brick (cake-style), and when they took it out of the colonization container they noticed that a few mushrooms had started to grow "invitro" on the underside (i.e. where the straw brick was touching the bottom of the container), should they remove them and start the first flush from scratch, or let them grow to maturity in the hope that others might pin in the meantime? Will not removing them affect overall yield? I understand that the pinset of the first flush for a casing affects future flushes, and indeed overall yield, but is the same true for an uncased straw brick? Should the invitro pins be removed?

Thanks.

Leave them to grow. If no others start to grow until next flush, those will turn out ot be monsters.
