Shouldn't the chapter of "Revelations" in the bible be forbidden knowledge?

i think i once read in the bible that things like the occult and for-seeing the future shouldn't be done? it's also the last chapter so it could have been an add-on that shouldn't have been?

Revelations is only one of a number of Apocalyptic writings and it almost did not make it into the canonical Bible. Then again, John's Gospel almost didn't make it in either because it was deemed too Gnostic in its flavor. John's Gospel is radically different from the Synoptics [same-view] Matthew, Mark and Luke, and has colored or corrupted the Synoptics in the minds of most 'Christians.' In the Synoptics, Iesus is 'a man anointed by God,' but in John Iesus is 'God clothed with flesh.' Very very different meaning in John - Greek mythology applied to the Christian mythos.

i'm guessing they included it hoping that it would terrify the masses thus cementing their spiritual subservience to the church.
