What has brought YOU to tears?
    #7590568 - 11/03/07 10:01 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

Have you ever cried for someone else entierely; have you ever been so happy for someone that you cried tears of joy; have you ever felt someone's pain and cried for them; have you cried because you were so proud of another human being; if i cried for you would you cry for me...

Sometimes pure love makes me cry. Just the concept of it.

So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

Oh yea. Crying is a good good thing. It's a feminine release, which is why un-mature males will look down on crying, hold back tears, and poke fun at those who do cry.

Crying is feminine? Since when? I always thought crying was considered 'childish' and this was why it was looked down upon. This is silly too, but I really think it's ridiculous to characterize crying as feminine, whether you think on it positively or not.

Anyways, crying is great. It's a pretty pleasurable emotional release, and I usually end up having a good bawl every couple months.

Yogananda says that women are generally more emotional then men, men are more intellectual or rational. that being said, when a guy does cry, its that much more powerful because it must have been something really great to overcome his rational nature

:blah: More gender generalizations that not only damage women, but men as well. These gender traits are socialized and silly. Penises and vaginas have nothing to do with being primarily emotional or rational. These orientations are learned. I can be a pretty cranky spazz (as I'm sure is apparent in my posting,) but I'm also a lot more rational than alot of men I encounter. Men's emotions are mutilated in thier gender training. Women's minds are mutilated in thiers. It's a terrible shame.

LOL, men are LESS emotional? Men are more easily provoked to anger, which IS being fucking emotional.

Anyways, no, I don't cry for people.

Strangely enough I cry relatively frequently during movies, but not in real life.  Even if the scene is kind of a joke, as long as there is the requisite emotional exchange happening on the screen with a swelling string score behind it, I'll feel that crying response happen.  I can supress it or let it go, depending on the social situation.

Perhaps I am just in a stable part of my life, but things in the real world do not make me cry.  Haven't cried from a stimulus other than film for years.

What a weird world we live in

the entire universe is made up of opposing forces, good evil, light dark, yin yang. thats what makes the union of man and woman so perfect, is they compliment eachother. if they were exactly alike, whats the point?

 Have fun with your medieval world view. As for me, I'm not interested in such a ridiculous, false minded model of the universe. It's boring and incredibly simplistic, not to mention completely ignorant of the incredible range of diversity that appears all around us.

edit: No one is exactly alike, this is the incredible beauty of existence. Each one of us comes into this world utterly unique. The dividing line has little to do with gender, and much more to do with the fact that each and every one of us is one of a kind. We are much more diverse than dualism allows room for. We are infinitly diverse. Gender is nothing more than fabricated social roles. Each and every individual has incredible potential to form themselves into whatever kind of person they wish to be, given thier facticity (unchanging factors including experience and genetics.) That leaves a whole lot of room to play. Subscribing to formualaic roles denies us vast degrees of potential. This is a damn shame, and a boring way to step up to the miraculous challenge of existence.

I cried when my mother passed away
and I fell apart when my brother passed away.
and all the sore parts are still just as sore.

when I was in my teens and twenties, I thought it was lame to cry or to grieve. now I see it as a real honoring of the spirits I have come to know as people. Maybe even to see that I loved them more when I took them for granted than I ever even knew.

crying has helped melt the crusty ego. it has brought me closer to everyone who has ever suffered loss.
