I would like to know more about wax paper never heard of that . I use miracle grow moisture control straight from the bag with good results as a casing layer.

It is supposed to act just like a casing layer by providing that microclimate...I'm just worried about getting the ph right on a casing mixture if i decide to go on that route...how do you prepare that miracle grow moisture control when ur using that?..id like to try that out sometime

straight out of the bag no PH adjustment required at all. I don't even pasteurize it , but you can if you want to .. oh of course I wet it to field capacity first then case with it
