Creationism
    #7590094 - 11/03/07 02:13 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

Have you noticed how creationists have some chasm jumping logic...

They assume that God (the creator) is good. Why think that God is good and should be worshiped?

Dolly the sheep was created by humans. Those humans that created her are her Gods. Did they have good intentions? Not really, they had the motivation of learning for themselves, they weren't trying to create Dolly for the good intention of all sheep kind!

Equally, if we humans were purposefully created then it seems God gave us a bit of a bum deal and doesn't really care about us that much. Look at the 3rd world disease and famine for instance.

An obvious point maybe I know, but its just a thought, no-one made you read it.

Yes...Either this creator/entity doesn't really care about us, or it's sadistic, and most likely of all, it doesnt even exist: At least in the monotheistic sense. But if it does then I would curse it.

Maybe some kind of god (extraterrestrial intelligence) put us here, and just doesn't care or doesn't have control over things like famine, etc.

Famine is really OUR fault when you think about it. We don't have to reproduce this much, to the point that some of us can't even eat to survive.

I think we're all expecting too much from god. Maybe he's just some crazy alien who wanted to grow some humans, you know, like we all want to grow mushrooms...

no human has ever created a fucking sheep. they took a sheep that already existed and produced another one from it. Hell i created my son more than any human created a sheep. at least my son came from myself.

The modified its genome and grew it in a fucking test tube.

Yeah, the didn't code the whole DNA from scratch. They did like a copy paste job in computer programming.

They still created it though. When someone makes a song, they often take elements of musical knowledge that they've pilfered from others but we don't say they didn't create it.

that's true, but strcitly speaking no one actually creates anything, we just re-arange parts, which can be a beautiful process nontheless, and it's creative, but not creating. But besides that, if we are talking about some sort of God creating something, it's not just re-aranging parts, it would have to be the manifestation of something without any prerequisites other that that God-mind.

I do agree that we are skipping a step by calling ourselves God to the sheep. It's one thing to have set the ball rolling to create a new life; we do that with ourselves and induce it in our chattel all the time. Cloning is just a new, albeit technologically advanced, means of using the incomprehensibly vast, powerful masses of genetic information that happens to be just be sitting there all around us in this crazy world of ours. Let's make no fucking mistake here: WE did not create the DNA, we found it and put it in a tube. It would be pretty fucking amazing if we made a sheep by scratch by synthesizing a genome from scratch somehow. Then maybe we'd have all rights to call ourselves god to a sheep. But fact is all we did was take a sheep that was already there and make a copy. Genetically modified or no, that's just copy-and-paste work, like you said.

It's funny how today's man will jump at every opportunity to call himself god he sees. A portent of things to come? I hope not.

well if there is a story to be told there was a creation
but no one will discover the story without first passing through
the time of annihilation
so it seems one has to make a statement sooner or later
