ALRIGHT...... ive finally gotten around to taking some pictures of my pedros to share. mainly because there are 2 mutants i would like some opinions on.
first. i would like to introduce the whole family. well minus one. my largest one is still at my fathers house, its almost 4' tall and i am unsure of how to move him without damaging him, as it is a 2 hour drive from there to here.... but anyway, here are the rest.

now here is the first and most interesting mutant, IMO. im not sure why it did this, the center growth did not die, was not injured, it just started doing this roughly a month to a month and a half ago. it seems the center stopped growing and it started bulging out on the one side instead. now there are 3 new growths comming from the mutated top, you cant see the third in this picture because i just noticed it two days ago.

and for the last mutant, im not even sure if you can call it a mutant, but it is interesting at least. it seems for some reason it decided to shift the pattern of the ribs on me.

well there they are. let me know what you think.

the meristem half-died, the other half continued to grow until mature aureoles occurred ABOVE the meristem. they then became the primary growth locations.
even if the meristem DIDN'T half-die, and the cactus just dropped 3 adjacent ribs (which is more than normal and unlikely to happen in adjacency) then the effect is the same, the meristem gets lagged behind the growing edge of the remaining ribs, putting mature aureoles in the primary position.
that or the meristem just ended. like in clumping bridgesii monstroses.

its common for trichs to drop or gain ribs...
i hope the other one turns out to be monstrose form, but its more likely to be along the lines of wot mitch said... and will continue to grow normally from now on...
