2 much water, after soaking, strain it, and let it drain for an hour.

i didn't mean towel dry them i mean after the soak and boil...
i believe he covers them in water and drains and repeats a few times until the water sits clear and not yellow on the grains and once clear he uses that water for the soak then boils it directly in that water for 10 minutes or so... though it's been a while since i watched his video i might have fucked something up... i just kinda go from memory these days.. let the steam evaporate off by shaking ( kinda a tossing motion like you'd make when preparing stirfry or shaking kernals ) in a colander... the kernals should be dry enough to set a tablepoon of them on a piece of paper towel without leaving any moisture marks on the paper towel.. if it leaves moisture they're too wet.... in other words keep shaking them up and letting the moisture evaporate of the outside of the kernal... it's actually been a few months since i've prepared any grains as i got busy with a move but i believe thats pretty accurate... RR would be able to clarify if i missed anything... but i don't think i did...

A simple test to see if your grains are too wet, is scoop up a handfull and tilt your hand letting the grains drop at a 90 degree angle, if they are dry enough there should be none to a few grains stuck to your hand, if there are a lot of grains sticking to your hand they are too wet.

oh shit maybe this was the problem... i had a few rye jars soaking to be pressure cooked in a day or two, when i was going to PC they were all sprouted!
My guess is that i didnt notice that they sprouted before pressure cooking and they burst releasing starch and shit... damn...

RR says you can soak for as little as 4 hours and up to 24 hours I usually do 12 hours and they come out perfect .. bring to a boil then 10 minute simmer shake in the colander to release steam , then this is where I part ways with RR I lay them all out on newspaper do the TP test and jar and PC them you have to turn the heat down as low as it goes but still have the weight rock 1-4 times per minute .. then after they are cooled shake them around in the jar to disperse them again .. good luck next time

pretty sure I saw RR say that once you would have to use hot water to do the soak .. for that short time ..
