A teacher's aide at Burbank Elementary School in Milwaukee found the drugs during class Wednesday, police said.
The boy's mother admitted the pot was hers, WISN-TV in Milwaukee reported.
More drugs were found in her west-side home, according to police.
Neighbors said they are concerned for the two young children living there.
"To put them in a situation where they find pot, or are around it, it's disturbing," neighbor Sara Alberts said.
The mother of the boy was arrested, and her children were placed with child protective services.

One of my earliest memories is one of me sitting with my dad one night while he sat cleaning one of his bowls. I couldn't have been more than 4 or 5, but I remember the scene very vividly.
I asked him what he was doing, and what the thing he had was, and he simply told me "Nothing you need to know about yet." and I just said "Okay."
I am now almost 20 years old, and I am a perfectly functioning, healthy, sane person. So what's the big fucking deal if this lady is smoking pot? I'll admit, it was irresponsible for her to leave some weed in her son's backpack, but honestly, what's the worst that could have come of that situation?
Is a 4-year-old going to know what pot is? If a kid doesn't know what something is, what do they usually do? Leave it alone or eat it. Considering it was pot, the WORST possible outcome involves the kid maybe catching a buzz from eating a joint, and I can think of about 100 things that are worse for kids than that. Like television.

This is so stupid, I cant believe how horrible people are.... a harmless joint fell into the kids backpack, it looks bad for the mom, but do you think that would be as traumatizing as ripping him away from his parents and put in some strange foster care; where the kids could then come in contact with much worse individuals? (child molesters or kids with problems that act out) i wish i could uppercut that teachers aide :/

Why stash your pot in your kid's backpack?

I remember reading that a lady once packed a beer in her kids lunch box, not because she a drunk but because she's a busy mom nothing more it can happen easily, you just gotta be tired and have kids running around.

Jesus I hope they don't tear this family apart because of an absent-minded mistake.

This is really tragic. It's hard for me to understand how someone could put a joint in her kids backpack by mistake. But strange things happen.
I have a serious problem with the government tearing children away from their parents because they do not conform to the standard norm. I see no evidence she was abusing her child.
