could i take a sterile syringe with sterile water in it, flame sterilize the needle, inject into the cap, squirt water out, suck it back in, and then later use to inoculate jars?
sorry for the shitty post.

i always wanted to just put a cap inside a lc jar and see what happens
besides contam, it would be cool, u can have the spores naturally come off, and then have the shroom cap as a stirring tool

To quote the barenaked ladies (sadly), it's all been done... before. It can work to make new syringes.

The latter is improbable. However you can easily make an LC with a similar method that results in a clone.

i want to make a LC just like in the link but in a syringe instead of a jar. couldn't i just suck up some of the shroom material into the syringe after piercing the stalk? what would happen if i only had water in the syringe? would i have to completely pierce the stalk or could i just go in half way? would this have to be done on the stalk?

You're only gonna get a single chunk of mushroom when you peirce the stalk with the needle. If you just suck that up into the syringe, there is not going to be any nutrients for the mycelium to colonize and expand, seeing as you only would have water in your syringe.
The easiest way to make a LC syringe is as follows. Inoculate a grain jar that is only about 1/3 way full. It shouldn't take too long to colonize considering its not full. Once it is 100%, break up the grains. Inject sterile water into the jar. Shake it around to pick up the mycelium fragments into the water. Finally, suck the water up into the sterile syringe. There you go. Easy, mostly error proof LC syringe.

I tried that a few weeks ago just for shits and giggles, it didn't necessarily contam.. but it didn't produce anything I'd want to waste my time/jars injecting into spawn either

BUT if you excise a small piece of mushroom material from INSIDE the stem in sterile conditions, you can use that as a starter in an LC (I think I read that somewhere). Correct me if I'm wrong oh wise shroomery admins and veterans.

The very inside of the mushroom that has not been exposed to the outside is sterile...check TMC, pgs 30-31, stamets has a 3 picture walk through showing where to take the tissue from...
