Substrate: Wood Bed & Straw. . ?

First.. The Straw bale i got from a friend is very greenish... not as the one i saw on different tek here... will it be alright ?

Second, i have a nice wood behing my house, old and heavy dark peat-moss like mass of earth compost on the ground in many places... seems rich in nutriment,etc..for mush , would it be good mixed with my straw ???

you want wheat straw that is yellowish in color...

not green.

you want to use manure and straw based compost...

not debris based compost.
