Should inoculation points touch on agar?
    #7585470 - 11/01/07 08:20 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

I have been transferring from one dish to the next to try and leave the contams behind. I have a petri now of birch polypore on antibiotic agar that looks clean on all three inoculation points on the dish (not a divided dish). Can these grow together by touching and merging, or should I now move each one to its own plate?

Thanks,

Cul

If it's from culture, they'll merge seamlessly. If from spores, perhaps not. If the last dish was contaminated, I'd make one more transfer before using the mycelium. If you don't see any contaminants in this dish, transfer to another, and when it's grown out a bit there, use it to inoculate grains.
