watering a wild cyan patch
    #7585053 - 11/01/07 06:06 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

so I have patch that has been fruiting, but all teh fruits dry up after about a week, never reaching full size. They start to bruise and shrivel up before they get there.

Today I thought to add some water to them. How much woudl be an adequate amount, while not rotting them out?

the problem is more the humidity than the water supply most likely. But if the ground around it is dry, then watering would help.

If the patch is in a secluded place that only you know of, you could put some sort of cover over it to keep in humidity, but still allow plenty of airflow to pass through.

Leaves make an excellent cover to keep in the humidity. You could add water on top for extra effect.

unless you actually had a hose that you would leave running for hours then you cant over water them. Bring a 5 gallon bucket full of water and one of those watering jugs that they use for flowers and fill it up with water and go to town. The water will not hamper pin formation and direct contact is okay.

Cactu taught me that one. We found some amazing clusters after he had buried pins in leaves three weeks earlier.
